The only real mistake is the one you don’t learn from…
Which is why as we’re kicking off a new year, I felt compelled to share with you the 10 memorable mistakes I made within the past year.
We value development, promote innovation, and continuously learn — which is one of the many reasons that taking the time to reflect on your previous work is so critical to continuing to moving forward — personally, professionally, and as a team or organization.
Top 10 list of mistakes in 2024:
- Driving in Houston rather than renting an Uber. By the time I reached the client site, I was sweating profusely!
- Not proofing a handout well. This brought lots of feedback after the event.
- Planning 2 back-to-back Leadership Development classes on two different subjects.
- Giving too much information during a sales pitch.
- Working while on vacation.
- Having an Employee Engagement monthly call on Friday afternoon.
- Not planning enough thinking time in my weekly schedule.
- Not investing in learning and development opportunities for myself.
- Taking feedback from surveys too personally – especially when they mention my weight.
- Begging people to attend a retreat.
